Yarrawonga Health on target
Yarrawonga Health proudly presented the 2017-2018 Annual Financial and Performance Report and the Victorian Quality Account for Yarrawonga Health for 2017-2018 at its Annual General Meeting last Wednesday, November 14.
Mrs Erin York, Corporate Governance Officer - reported the net operating result for 2017-2018 was an operating profit of $197,000.
Yarrawonga Health CEO Elaine Mallows said this was a positive result for the dynamic rural health service, and on target with budgeting, demonstrating a sound financial position for Yarrawonga Health now and into the future.
“This sound financial position is a tribute to the hard work and dedication from the board, together with our senior management team as well as our entire workforce who have all worked diligently to demonstrate responsible financial acumen at the same time as providing high quality patient care,” Elaine Mallows said.
This year the Annual General Meeting attendees enjoyed a presentation from guest speaker Director of Consumers as Partners for Safer Care Victoria Louise McKinlay.
Louise worked as a registered nurse and boasts more than 20 years’ experience in clinical and management roles in Australia and the United Kingdom. She also has extensive leadership experience in strategic quality system management, clinical education, organisational development and consumer engagement.
The Board Chair, Mr Paul Flavel provided his report noting several achievements:
• Safer Care Victoria glowing Independent Review Assessment findings on Yarrawonga Health Maternity.
• The Yarrawonga Health Service Plan which
provides valuable insight into the health needs of the Yarrawonga Health catchment community.
• 2018 People Matters Survey Results indicating positive results from the staff’s assessment of Yarrawonga Health.
Ms Isabelle Warren reported on the activities of the Consumer Advisory Committee and Mr Brian Walsh launched this year’s Victorian Quality Account including the Clinical Governance Report.
The following staff and volunteer members were acknowledged for their years of loyalty and service to Yarrawonga Health:
• 10 Years - Michelle Hilet, Jenny Dyson (volunteer), Elaine Gray, Sharon Franklin and Chelsea O’Brien.
• 15 Years - Christine Pieper and Leanne Tan
• 20 Years - Helen McColl, Jeannette Duncan
and Andrea Adkins.
• 30 Years - Jacqui Moon and Pauline Ros
• 35 Years - Fiona Young.
VIP Y Excellence Awards:
Staff Members were also recognised for their exceptional performance in project or service delivery through the Yarrawonga Health VIP Y* Awards.
*VIPY – Values Improvement People – A program that is working to improve standards, excellence and culture at Yarrawonga Health.
This year seven Excellence Awards were given to: Fiona Stevens, Tracey McKenzie, Kaye Smith, Jodie New, Katrina Trinder-James and Stasha Barton (Volunteer).
With the winning team award going to the Perioperative Services Team (Theatre Team). Presentations were given by:
Amy Jury – The Journey of a Midwife and a Mother at Yarrawonga Health.
Louise McKinlay presented on Safercare Victoria.
