Yar­ra­wonga Health proudly pre­sented the 2017-2018 An­nual Fi­nan­cial and Per­for­mance Re­port and the Vic­to­rian Qual­ity Ac­count for Yar­ra­wonga Health for 2017-2018 at its An­nual General Meet­ing last Wednes­day, Novem­ber 14.

Mrs Erin York, Cor­po­rate Gov­er­nance Of­fi­cer - re­ported the net op­er­at­ing re­sult for 2017-2018 was an op­er­at­ing profit of $197,000.

Yar­ra­wonga Health CEO Elaine Mal­lows said this was a pos­i­tive re­sult for the dy­namic ru­ral health ser­vice, and on tar­get with bud­get­ing, demon­strat­ing a sound fi­nan­cial po­si­tion for Yar­ra­wonga Health now and into the fu­ture.

“This sound fi­nan­cial po­si­tion is a trib­ute to the hard work and ded­i­ca­tion from the board, to­gether with our se­nior man­age­ment team as well as our en­tire work­force who have all worked dili­gently to demon­strate re­spon­si­ble fi­nan­cial acu­men at the same time as pro­vid­ing high qual­ity pa­tient care,” Elaine Mal­lows said.

This year the An­nual General Meet­ing at­ten­dees en­joyed a pre­sen­ta­tion from guest speaker Di­rec­tor of Con­sumers as Part­ners for Safer Care Vic­to­ria Louise McKin­lay.

Louise worked as a reg­is­tered nurse and boasts more than 20 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence in clin­i­cal and man­age­ment roles in Aus­tralia and the United King­dom. She also has ex­ten­sive lead­er­ship ex­pe­ri­ence in strate­gic qual­ity sys­tem man­age­ment, clin­i­cal ed­u­ca­tion, or­gan­i­sa­tional de­vel­op­ment and con­sumer en­gage­ment.

The Board Chair, Mr Paul Flavel pro­vided his re­port not­ing sev­eral achieve­ments:

• Safer Care Vic­to­ria glow­ing In­de­pen­dent Re­view As­sess­ment find­ings on Yar­ra­wonga Health Ma­ter­nity.

• The Yar­ra­wonga Health Ser­vice Plan which

pro­vides valu­able in­sight into the health needs of the Yar­ra­wonga Health catch­ment com­mu­nity.

• 2018 Peo­ple Mat­ters Sur­vey Re­sults in­di­cat­ing pos­i­tive re­sults from the staff’s as­sess­ment of Yar­ra­wonga Health.

Ms Is­abelle War­ren re­ported on the ac­tiv­i­ties of the Con­sumer Ad­vi­sory Com­mit­tee and Mr Brian Walsh launched this year’s Vic­to­rian Qual­ity Ac­count in­clud­ing the Clin­i­cal Gov­er­nance Re­port.

The fol­low­ing staff and vol­un­teer mem­bers were ac­knowl­edged for their years of loy­alty and ser­vice to Yar­ra­wonga Health:

VIP Y Ex­cel­lence Awards:

Staff Mem­bers were also recog­nised for their ex­cep­tional per­for­mance in project or ser­vice de­liv­ery through the Yar­ra­wonga Health VIP Y* Awards.

*VIPY – Val­ues Im­prove­ment Peo­ple – A pro­gram that is work­ing to im­prove stan­dards, ex­cel­lence and cul­ture at Yar­ra­wonga Health.

This year seven Ex­cel­lence Awards were given to: Fiona Stevens, Tracey McKen­zie, Kaye Smith, Jodie New, Ka­t­rina Trinder-James and Stasha Bar­ton (Vol­un­teer).

With the win­ning team award go­ing to the Pe­ri­op­er­a­tive Ser­vices Team (The­atre Team). Pre­sen­ta­tions were given by:

Amy Jury – The Jour­ney of a Mid­wife and a Mother at Yar­ra­wonga Health.

Louise McKin­lay pre­sented on Safer­care Vic­to­ria.
