“Massive” cod classic expected
Fine weather and close to 3,000 entries are expected for this weekend’s 19th Yamaha Cod Classic in Yarrawonga Mulwala.
Organiser Tony Bennett said with perfect conditions predicted for the weekend this year’s event is looking to be the biggest one for several years.
“We have just over 2,000 pre-registrations and with the good weather we expect anywhere between 700 and 900 registrations on the weekend.
“It should be a massive weekend for the towns,” Tony said.
Anglers from all parts of the nation will descend on Lake Mulwala to compete in the popular event which will start on Friday and end Sunday. The fishing competitions start on Saturday at 6.30am until 6.30pm and lucky door prizes will be drawn in the evening. Competition resumes on Sunday at 6.30am until 10.30am with all the fishing prizes to be awarded at the completion.
Anglers will be looking to share in a staggering prize pool that totals in excess of $150,000 including seven boating packages, the chance to spend 30 seconds in a ‘cash grab’ machine, a list of major goods to long to mention along with 1000 plus minor lucky door prizes.
