Australian Munitions (Thales Australia) Mulwala’s focus on safety and helping the local community was evident again recently at Tunzafun.

Mulwala’s exciting amusement park was the venue chosen for the munitions company’s General Manager Trevor Gunn to hand out cheques totalling $4,000 to Palliative Care and Friends in Common (both receiving $1250) and $1500 to Tunzafun.

“Our company’s focus for the community is education, health and community services,” Mr Gunn said. “These cheques are on behalf of all our employees. We recently handed out cheques to four local schools for education.

“The community service of Tunzafun is fantastic. It’s entertaining, especially for the kids. Palliative Care is helping people; staff and volunteers do an amazing job getting people across the line. Friends in Common do so much helping people with cancer.”

Palliative Care’s co-ordinators Eileen Thorp and Chris Doyle said the cheque would be enormous help in staying abreast of education that’s required in the field and assisting their patients. “Please thank your employees for us,” Chris and Eileen told Mr Gunn.

Those words of thanks and appreciation were also expressed by Tunzafun Manager Phil Bott and Friends in Common President Helen Glasheen.

Helen mentioned the considerable travel to Albury and Melbourne for treatment of people with cancer.

“We support people through various fundraising efforts to provide fuel vouchers to do that travel and support the costs for accommodation. So this money is very helpful,” the president said.
