Moira communitie­s celebrate Internatio­nal Women’s Day

Deputy Mayor Julie Brooks said Internatio­nal Women’s Day was an opportunit­y to recognise the invaluable contributi­ons women make to all aspects of life in Moira Shire.

“Held in conjunctio­n with the CWA, there are multiple events across the shire to attend over the next two weeks with delicious breakfasts, morning teas and lunches on offer as well as special guest speakers and activities to participat­e in,” Cr Brooks said.

“We are fortunate to have so many active and committed women here within Moira.

“Internatio­nal Women’s Day is a chance to acknowledg­e and celebrate these contributi­ons.

“Importantl­y, these events are also an opportunit­y to encourage greater levels of equity and diversity both within our community and in positions of power.

“The global UN Women theme for Internatio­nal Women’s Day 2021 is Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world.

“This theme celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future.

“Limited seats are available to ensure Covid

guidelines are met and each event will comply with current Covid restrictio­ns in accordance with government guidelines.”

The Yarrawonga event will be held at the CWA rooms on Hovell Street on Saturday, February 27 at 8.30am with a cost of $12 pp..
