Struck down at the 11th hour

-

The organisers of the Yarrawonga Gala Ball and Dance Weekend are extremely disappointed to announce they have been forced to cancel the event at the 11th hour.

Not only is it disappointing for the organisers but also for over 100 dancers who were coming from across the state.

Co-Organisers Mary Cooper along Geoff and Dawn Campbell wished to thank all those who had been involved in some capacity.

“Many had booked their accommodation, at least half a dozen had already arrived or were on their way and had to turn around and rush home,” Ms Cooper said.

“There were also local dancers who were looking forward to dancing in our magnificent Town Hall - everyone was understanding and sympathetic when we advised them of the cancellation.

“Of course, our interstate visitors weren’t even able to make a booking.

“We wish to thank all those who had volunteered to help in the preliminary preparation and running of the events over the weekend.

“Thank you to those businesses who had been extremely generous with donations, which we will return, and hope they can still support us in the future.”

The organizing committee also wished to thank the newly named Lions Club of Lake Mulwala who had put so much effort into the preparations of their excellent catering for this event and expressed their sorrow that the clubs first major fundraiser had to be cancelled.
