John to play at veterans’ tournament
Local Table Tennis player John Wright has been selected in the C Team for Victoria as they compete in the 2021 National Veterans Table Tennis Championships in Darwin from October 9 – 16.
“From part way through last year I’ve been travelling around Victoria (when we were allowed to), to qualify for state team points to try and make the state team to play in Darwin,” John said.
“Cut-off date was July, and I received an email on July 23 saying that I made the Victoria team which was amazing, so I’ll be heading to Darwin in October for a week playing in teams event and also individual events.
“I’ve been selected in the president’s team before but being selected in the C team is amazing as I am the only one from around this area so hopefully our team will do well.
“Also, I’d really like to thank all those businesses that have sponsored me. I keep my word and have worn a shirt with their logo on there.”
