Push for a school bus town service

-

Nationals Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy is conducting a survey on the need for a Yarrawonga town bus service for school students.

Mr McCurdy said he was keen to gauge the need for a school bus special service in Yarrawonga.

“Most other towns in the region have a town bus service that caters for school students only who live in town and have a bus to get from home, to school and back, each morning and afternoon,” Mr McCurdy said.

“Yarrawonga does not have such a service for students who live in town.

“I am conducing this survey to seek opinion on the need for such a service after many, many enquiries from Yarrawonga residents for a town service for school students only.”

Mr McCurdy said safety was the number one priority in getting students to and from school.

“The bus service would reduce car congestion at all Yarrawonga schools and ease the burden on parents at school pick up,” he said.

Once the survey results have been compiled Mr McCurdy will write to the Education Minister and Transport Minister.

The survey can be completed by scanning a QR code, which will be advertised in next week’s Yarrawonga Chronicle, or by contacting Mr McCurdy’s office on 5721 6155 or email tim.mccurdy@parliament.vic.gov.au.
