YMGCR Mens Nine Holers

With Tuesdays game cancelled due to the coring of the greens it was good to get back for golf on Thursday and it was interesting seeing how everyone handled the rough greens.

In A grade Ron Hocking enjoyed the slower greens scoring 6 pars, a birdie and a Nearest the Pin in his round of 23 to win the day finishing 2 points ahead of Peter Mansfield and Kerry Pendergast on 21 points.

Warwick "Wombat" Sellars also scored a valiant 20 points.

Also enjoying the slower greens was a four way countback headed by Brendan O'Farrell from John "General" Haigh, Corny Boers and Joe "BlackFinger" Scibberras, with ball prizes going down to 17 on a countback.

In B Grade Digger Dunne continued his recent good form with a win to edge Keith Brown on countback with both scoring 21 points but Diggers' straighter putting put him ahead on countback.

(That looks weird - English language putting or putting).

Coming in third was Dave Murray who edged Joe Cilia on countback on 20 points with Allan Foord close behind on 19 with an 8 way countback led by Ian Barton on 18 points from new member Frank Smeaton - fresh from his part in the popular Netflix series OutLander.

Doug Fasoli, John Taylor, Bill Gorman and John Fairbairn all won ball prizes.

Three new members have joined in recent weeks - Frank Smeaton as mentioned above, George Plumb and Rod Newman, so please introduce yourself to them and make them welcome.
