Inner Wheel April raffle drawn
The raffle was drawn at the meeting recently by ex-member Marg Marchant, who was visiting family in the area.
First prize of an original oil painting by Maureene Holgate was won by Marg McCann of Pascoe Vale, who has been holidaying in Yarrawonga for 30 years.
Second prize of $100 fuel voucher was won by Dallice Robins of Mulwala.
Third prize of a coffee table art book was won by Mary Mansfield of Yarrawonga.
The Inner Wheel Club would like to thank everyone in the Yarrawonga Mulwala area, and visitors to our region, for supporting the raffle.
All of the money raised will be put back in to the community through local charities and projects.
Lions contribute to Tunzafun
Yarrawonga Lions have generously donated $1,000 to Tunzafun to assist with their new projects and the ongoing cost in the running of the fabulous facility.
Members of the Yarrawonga Lions Club and volunteers from Tunzafun joined together recently for pizza and fun with members enjoying mini golf and friendly road rage on the dodgem cars, with one of the Lions members Ron, being an ex-policeman, ensuring that not too many road rules were broken.
The Lions rode the train and went back in time riding the carousel.
“We, as a community, are very fortunate to have such a venue in our towns,” Mrs Tufvesson said.
“If you have not been yet, give it a try. Volunteers are necessary for this facility, and for Lions, to be successful, and we are always looking for new volunteers and members.
“So, if you are interested, just look us up and have a chat and see what you can contribute to our organisations and our communities.”
Tunzafun Committee President Helen Purtle thanked the Lions Club for their donation and divulged what Tunzafun are hoping to do with the money.
“We would like to thank President Joan and all the members of Yarrawonga Lions Club for presenting this $1000 as we would like to express our gratitude and appreciation for this generous donation,” Mrs Purtle said.
“Your support means a lot to us, and it will go a long way in helping us to improve our premises and make it a better place for our many visitors.
“We believe we have over 15,000 visitors a year and run with up to 40 volunteers.
“Currently we are in the process of having a mural painted on our back wall and also, we are hoping to purchase a defibrillator.
“So, your members can be rest assured, your donation of $1000 will be put to good use and make a real difference.
“It is truly inspiring to see what the Lions Club does to support our towns and other organisations such as ours.
“Once again, thank you for your generosity and we look forward to sharing the results of our work at Tunzafun with you in the future.”
