Hoppers winning day on court

A Grade

Katamatite 20 def by Rennie 41

The girls got off to a flying start with plenty of confidence seeing them leading by 11 the first quarter. The second quarter saw a lapse in concentration and some silly mistakes crept in. Pressure from the Katty defence pressured the goalers and some changes needed to be made come half time.

Abby Coghill and Hannah Shoppee combined well again in defence and Mikayla, Polly and Ella worked hard in attack.

The third quarter gave a boost the Hoppers needed to finish the game off and come away with the four points.

With a rest this week the A Grade will look to regroup, work in skills and keep moving forward.

Awards: Mulwala Bakery - Abbey Coghill, Yarra Hotel - Mikayla McAuliffe, Free as a bird - Polly McRae and Showcase jewellery- Ella Rhodes.

B Grade

Katamatite 27 def by Rennie 50.

The B Grade girls worked hard to put into play what they had been practising and slowly but surely chipped away at Katty to force turnovers.

An outstanding and patient game by the defence, Jemma, Heidi and Celine who were up against very accurate goalers.

Junior gun Laynee Rhodes stepped up this week and showed why she was given the opportunity to play seniors, what an exciting talent.

A rotating attack end showed the depth the team has and with every game the B Grade are going from strength to strength. Keep up the good work girls.

Awards: One Zach - Jemma Adkins, Yarra hotel - Heidi Magro, Yarra News and gifts - Brooke McDougall and Redback waste bar - Laynee Rhodes.

C Grade

Katamatite 26 drew with Rennie 26.

Boy did these girls have some fight in them this week. Katty came out firing and the girls seemed a little flustered with how quick Katty was.

After the first quarter the nerves had settled and the girls started playing their game. The defence was outstanding this week slogging it out. To come from being 8 goals down to working their way back for a draw is a win in the coach's eyes.

The girls showed fight and resilience and didn't let rough players push them out. Every girl played their part and it was great to see all 10 girls their this week.

Awards: Mulwala Bakery - Georgie Thomas, ClubMulwala - Hayley Wilson, Miss Dolly - Nada Nolen and Zambreros - Rach Guppy.

C Reserve

Another great team effort for C Res. Defence did a fabulous job restricting the opposition to 8 goals. Defence had great position and offered great passing down the court.

Midcourt had strong ring side presence which allowed for excellent feeding to the goalers. The attacking players demonstrated great teamwork and were able to read each other well with every combination.

Top job to everyone.

Awards: Mulwala Bakery- Maya Hargreaves, Yarra Hotel- Amy Smith, Wingate IntersportsTegan Lee, Bundalong Tavern- Steph Munroe and Players player - Steph Exton.

Under 17s

Coming into this round the Under 17s didn't have many expectations on how the game would go. The girls have been putting in the work and strengthening defensive pressure and wow, did it pay off! With a final score of 6-87, it is clear what the Hoppers have been doing is working.

The shooters have been practicing and work on their accuracy which again, clearly shows their dedication. The game this week despite being a knockout, allowed Rennie to trial some rotations, practice patience and feeding into the ring and solidify some of the teams own personal goals.

Coach Brooke McDougall is so proud of this game and the energy the team played with from start to finish. Great job girls and enjoy the small break next week!

Awards: Ricky D's - Laynee Rhodes, Mulwala Bakery - Mykie McBurnie, Rhodes Family - Lucy Bassett and Rennie catering committee- Sophie Coghill.

Under 15s

Katamatite 12 def by Rennie 39

A great team effort saw the girls come away with a win the final score being 39 to 12.

The early lead meant the girls could work on a few different combinations in the goal ring with Iris proving she really can shoot when she trusts herself and puts them up! Mabel and Demi gave great leadership in helping her gain some confidence.

Mia, Jasmine, Samantha, Chelsea and Iris worked well together in their driving and passing from defence down the midcourt and into the goal third just flowed so amazing and they were able to put the things learn at training into practice.

Charlotte, Chelsea and Tess worked so well in the defence goals and managed to get a lot of intercepts which resulted in goals for Rennie.

The talent from these girls is so nice to watch and the scribe can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings as they get to know each other more. Well done girls.

Awards: Mulwala Bakery - Mia Brogan, Rhodes Family - Jasmine Lewis, Zambreros - Sam Knight and Yarra fish and chips - Chelsea Kerr.

The Under 13s netball game flowed fast and easily with the girls putting on a great display of skill and teamwork over the whole court. The goalers worked very well in the ring together.

Hard work at training is showing and their confidence is growing!

Under 11s

Saturday morning was the first away game; a really lovely game of netball to watch and be a part of. This is a super group of girls who are all very keen to play and learn.

A great team effort with lots of shots at goal which was excellent to see the girls having a try.

Defence was great by all girls and it's great to see the hard work from training being used on game day.

The girls do need to work on the 3 second rule.

Awards: Mulwala Bakery - Beth Ferguson, PM Junior Dev - Ava Styles, Rhodes Family - Ella Georski and Subway - Mackenzie Wolfe.
