Business partners
Business Spotlight joined forces with the international publisher Pearson for the launch of the first coursebook in their new eight-level business English course, Business Partner.
Teachers and trainers from private language schools, universities and companies attended workshops in May in Hamburg, Dortmund and Cologne, at which Lewis Lansford, a member of the course’s author team, presented the coursebook and discussed the changing nature of international business communication and the challenges facing trainers.
The first coursebook in the new series is pitched at CEF level B1+, with levels B1 and B2 due out shortly. Five further levels, ranging from A1 to C1, will be published by 2020. Other authors include regular Business Spotlight
contributors Bob Dignen and Mike Hogan. (For further details about Business Partner, see page 11.)
In each workshop, editorin-chief Ian Mcmaster talked to Lewis Lansford about the coursebook and his writing process. Asked how coursebooks can avoid becoming out of date in such a fast-changing business world, Lansford replied with a smile: “Never include pictures of people using a mobile phone or other forms of the latest technology. Within a very short time period, they’ll look old-fashioned.”
