7. Review discussion

Please consider the following self-assessment questions and review points before our meeting:

Where have things gone well?

What aspects of your work were the most rewarding? What were the main reasons for this?

Where did you experience problems?

What could or should have been done differently? What aspect of your work was the most challenging? What was the main cause of this?

What action could you take right now?

Please refer to our company guide “The Art of Feedback” for details on how we use the review criteria below:

8. Getting started

Merve: How was your week?

Jo: Pretty good, actually.

Merve: As you know, today is your performance review. First of all, I’d like to thank you for your contribution to the team. In general, I am very happy with your performance.

Jo: It’s good to hear that I’m doing well.

Merve: In particular, I’ve been impressed with how you’ve dealt with the new client more independently. I see you as a high potential.

Jo: Thank you. I appreciate you telling me that.

9. Down to business

Merve: So, tell me, how’s your workload? Have things improved since the last review?

Jo: Yes and no.

Merve: I’d like to hear your comments on any issues you may have.

Jo: Well, there’s one client who is quite difficult. What I’d like to ask is this: how do you think I could handle them better? I’d like to know what I can improve on. Merve: Tell me about the challenges in more detail.
