L’O: What inspired you to specialise in skincare and to establish Dr. Tonar Cosmetics?
Dr. Ursula Tonar: As a dermatologist, in my daily practice, I am confronted with the fact that many women are simply confused by the multitude of skincare products available on the market. Often, a skincare routine is based on products that eventually do more harm than good to the skin. An ideal skincare should stop and even reverse the visible ageing process of skin cells. Therefore, sustainable, reliable and well-tolerated skincare products are in great demand. I was inspired by this consumer demand. L’O: In what way do your patients influence the development of Dr. Tonar Cosmetics’s new products? UT: During my daily practice, I receive direct feedback from my patients and customers who are interested in beauty and health. This enables me to identify the need for further products for the daily skincare routine. L’O: What makes Epigenetic Skincare by Dr. Tonar Cosmetics so unique, and in what ways does it surpass traditional skincare approaches?
UT: What is unique is the targeted approach of stimulating positive epigenetic mechanisms in skin cells using, on the one hand, active ingredients aimed at the optimisation of cell functions and cell protection and, on the other hand, in accordance with the holistic approach, rejecting superfluous or harmful elements of traditional skin care.
L’O: In the pursuit of long-lasting results and cellular skin improvement, how does Dr. Tonar Cosmetics position itself compared to more superficial treatments? UT: The active key ingredients must reach the target structures of the skin cells in order to stimulate our genes for high performance. This has to be achieved in the deeper layers of the skin, where essential regeneration processes take place, repair mechanisms are set in motion, production of new collagen is induced, etc. This is why the transportation of key ingredients through appropriate carriers is so important for Dr. Tonar Cosmetics products, which explains the complexity of our sophisticated formulas. It has been proved that this is not possible with the so-called effect-cosmetics, which are aimed only at a very shortterm, superficial skin improvement.
