Transformations and individual expression - daily tasks for Tom Eerebout, whose talent has made him one of Hollywood’s highly sought-after stylists. The Belgian, who is accompanying Lady Gaga on her current career stage from pop star to film star, is a specialist for big occasions and has already styled icons like Kylie Minogue and Róisín Murphy.
When did you fall in love with fashion?
It was early on. My mother had this Moschino dress in her wardrobe that I was completely obsessed with. And then there were photos of my grandmother from the 60s when she looked like Jackie O. I loved the fabrics and cuts.
Was there a celebrity who influenced your style and view of fashion?
Of course! Fran Drescher in “The Nanny”. Brenda Cooper did a fantastic job as the costume designer for the show and gave personality to each character. Sarah Michelle Gellar in “Buffy - Under the Spell of Demons” was also inspiring. The red leather trousers are still in my memory.
What does it take to be a good stylist?
To be honest, I don’t really know. It’s a gut feeling that you develop. Most likely knowing fashion references and what works on someone you work with.
In recent years, stylists have become central to pop culture. What is your vision for your contribution?
Social media has made it easier for people to know the team behind an artist. I love what I do, but I love the people I work with even more: Sandra Amador, my styling partner, as well as photographers, artists, and everyone who is part of the “glam squads”. Together we create a world of magic!
You have created iconic moments for your customers. What are your top 3 looks?
Lady Gaga at the Venice Film Festival when she arrived in a black dress by Jonathan Simkhai as well as the pink Valentino dress she wore there. Number three: an editorial I did with Sandra Amador for “V Magazine” with Willy Vanderperre.
Have you found a formula for styling a look that goes viral?
We don’t make looks with the idea that they will go viral. We create something that fits in and is appropriate for that moment.

Invest in a good pair of shoes and quality accessories. You can take any look to a new level with these!
