L’Officiel Monaco

Sci-fi WELLNESS

- By CHRISTOPH STEINER

From virtual reality workouts to hydrotherapy. A luxury retreat, behind the historic walls of Palazzo Fiuggi, represents the future of medical wellness. L’officiel is setting out on a journey to the Fountain of Youth 2.0.

Not even 50 minutes faraway from Rome, the idyllic town of Fiuggi nestles in the foothills of the Abruzzo National Park. Visible from afar, the Palazzo Abruzzo, perched in a central position on a hilltop, rises as a jewel of the area. However, you should not be deceived by the historic facade. Since the end of spring, a fresh wind has been blowing through the halls steeped in history. Lorenzo Giannuzzi, CEO of the “Forte Village” in Sardinia, is the driving force behind the revitalization and the new medical wellness concept, which is based on a holistic approach - credo: “The aim is to improve the health and well-being of our guests by boosting the immune system and the cellular regeneration of body and mind”.

Tradition meets modernity

The region has been known for its spring water since the early 14th century, the “Palazzo Fiuggi” further focuses on the connection with Western medicine and speaks of an integrative 360-degree method. The international team of doctors and scientists reach out for the latest instruments, from MRI and infrared technology to retinal scans. First step diagnostic tests. Indeed, four programs are being used at the beginning of the treatment, including the “Full Immuno Boost” week for example. Each of them is customized for the needs of every guest, who likewise receive a short introduction

into the Wellness à la carte. One more essential point: the culinary arts! The individual treatments are accompanied by an individual nourishing plan, which was developed by the three-star Michelin cook Heinz Beck. Thee German chef is convinced that our bodies need to be toned up with anti-aging and anti-oxidative processes. A credo that is probably also quite to the taste of the elite crowd of guests who fly in from all over the world.
