Beyond the basics

The prepositio­ns for, in, from … to …, until and by can be used to talk ⋅ about the past, present or future:

I worked for Siemens for four years. (= in the past) ⋅ ⋅

She finished the race in 37 minutes. (= in the past)

⋅ We can get to the centre in about 20 minutes. (= from now) I’ll be staying there for a few months. (= in the future)
