Dear Spotlight team

You once wrote about a dictionary you would very much recommend as a learning tool for people who want to know more than just the meaning of a word. I knew that it would be exactly what I needed to expand my knowledge of English, and I would like to buy it — but I do not know any more which dictionary it is. Maybe you know the one I mean. It seems always to be on the desk of your editor-in-chief or another member of your team.

This mail should also be an opportunity to express my great pleasure in having subscribed to Spotlight (the magazine, the audio product and the plus booklet). I believe you must be referring to the book tips that we published in the August 2017 issue of Spotlight. In fact, I remember writing the review of the dictionary that I think you have in mind. It was the Collins Cobuild Advanced Learner’s Dictionary.

This volume has indeed been a firm favourite of mine ever since my student days, and I can highly recommend it to you. If you would like to buy it, a brandnew edition came out in June. The new ISBN is 978-3468490699.
