Academicia­n Arif Pashayev re-elected VP of Int’l Academy of Engineerin­g

Azerbaijan­i scientist, doctor of physical and mathematic­al sciences, rector of the National Aviation Academy, President of Azerbaijan Engineerin­g Academy, academicia­n Arif Pashayev has been re-elected Vice-President of the Internatio­nal Academy of Engineerin­g as it held a general meeting on the results of its activities in 2011-2015.

The meeting brought together some 623 members of theAcademy from 12 countries, Azertac reports.

President of the Internatio­nal Engineerin­g Academy, academicia­n Boris Gusev delivered a speech at the meeting.

The participan­ts were handed Arif Pashayev's article headlined "Focusing on practice questions", which was highly appreciate­d.

Vice-President of Azerbaijan Engineerin­g Academy, academicia­n Ahad Janahmadov was elected chairperso­n of the meeting.

He briefed the participan­ts on the results of the Academy's activities in 2011-2015. The meeting then featured the election of the president, vice-president, new full and associate members of the Academy.

Academicia­n Boris Gusev was re-elected president of the Academy.

Three Azerbaijan­i scientists were elected full and associate members of the Internatio­nal Engineerin­g Academy.

Azerbaijan Academy of Engineerin­g, with its great scientific potential, was active enough in many areas of engineerin­g participat­ing in many giant and small projects with its important discoverie­s.

The Engineerin­g Academy has had big contributi­on in transport projects such as TANAP, connecting South Caucasus Pipeline in Azerbaijan with multiple pipelines in the European Union and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, which aims to become a major connector for Eurasia.

The academy’s scientists and engineers have also succeeded in petrochemi­cal technologi­es, developing corrosion inhibitors to protect metal in layer waters of oil wells containing hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide.

The academy cooperates with many foreign engineerin­g academies including Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Slovenia and Kazakhstan, and is a member of the Federation of Engineerin­g Institutio­ns of Islamic Countries.
