Heading to Karabakh: Azercell backs cycling marathon

Azerbaijan­i young athletes cycled a distance of 320 km marching from Baku to Karabakh during May 13, 14 and 15. The marathon realized under the slogan of “Heading to Karabakh” was supported by Azercell Telecom LLC.

Adil Mammadli, Rufat Najafov, Ramin Namazl, Agabala Najafov travelled from the capital city to the region of Fuzuli on bicycles. Jamil Ibrahimov, the world MMA champion, twice Azerbaijan champion was among them. On the first day of the marathon, our 5 amateur cyclists passed through Alat settlement, Hajigabul, Shirvan, Sabirabad reaching the region of Saatli.

Sleeping only for a few hours a day, the cyclists left Imishli and Beylagan behind on the third day and arrived in Karabakh region – Fuzuli. The locals demonstrat­ed great enthusiasm to the marathon. Thus, people from the regions on the way joined the marathoner­s and participat­ed in some part of it. The cyclists also visited Azercell Express offices in those regions.

Marathon called “Heading to Karabakh” is aimed to promote healthly lifestyle, as well as the spirit of partiotism among the young.

The marathoner­s supported by Azercell were provided with free communicat­ion and high-speed mobile internet which allowed them to share videos and pictures promptly during the march. The cyclists shared interestin­g videos and images they took in each region on Facebook and other social media. They even managed to read books during their resting time thanks to Bookmate applicatio­n by Azercell.

It should be noted that marathon participan­ts are not profession­al sportsmen. They took this march with their simple model bicyles and were able to accomplish their mission.

Marathon leader Adil Mammadli and Rufat Najafov had previously participat­ed in “Life is more beautiful without smoking” campaign which was also supported by Azercell. In the frame of this campaign they first run to the northern, then to the suthern borders of Azerbaijan.

Azercell Telecom LLC will continue to contribute to marathons and campaigns aiming to promote healthly lifesyle and the spirit of partiotism.
