President Aliyev, First Lady attend opening of Regional Data and International Commutation Centers
President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of Regional Data and International Commutation Centers of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies in Baku on December 5.
The data center that meets modern international standards was awarded the international certificate of TIER III. The Center with a status of a protected facility provides integrated IT-services on the basis of the latest technical features, and offers customers tailormade solutions.
President Aliyev and Mehriban Aliyeva toured the centers to see the conditions created here.
Minister of Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzade informed the head of state that the operator of Regional Data Center and IP-based International Commutation Center is AzInTelecom Limited Liability Company which was restructured and renamed in June 2015.
The data center offers a cloudbased IT-solution and other services related to international traffic and certification. The Centre also monitors the transfer of signaling protocols, quality of media channels, delay and packet loss.
The Center terminates the calls included in the portable mobile numbers, as well as provides the use of different tariff packages in accordance with the wishes of a customer.
The new data center will accelerate the development of information and communication technologies in the country, as well as the integration of information systems of the country into the global information space. It will also create conditions for innovation and give impetus to the use of public and private cloud technologies, which are considered the most advanced technologies of our time.
President Aliyev and the First Lady also familiarized themselves with the work of the International Switching Center.
The Center allows improving the monitoring of incoming and outgoing calls. With the use of this platform the Center will ensure provision of various communication and multimedia services associated with sound, video, data services, SMS and so on to public and business sector.
ICT is considered to be one of the crucial spheres for the further development of the economy and an integral part of the economic and political reforms which are currently implemented in Azerbaijan.
Overall, the ICT sector has intensively developed in Azerbaijan over the past years.
Creation and development of the e-Government system, expanding the broadband internet services, launch of the telecommunication and low-orbit satellites, and many other are the evidence of Azerbaijan’s success in this sphere.
The volume of investments made in the sphere of ICT and postal services amounted to 209.8 million manats ($ 129.4 million) in January-September 2016. The volume has doubled as compared to the same period of 2015, while the index amounted to some 1.8 percent of the total volume of investments made in the economy of the country.
The income obtained in the sector in Azerbaijan is projected to hit $9 billion by 2020.
