Formula One construction work starts
Construction work for the second successive Formula 1 race around the streets of Azerbaijan's capital city, Baku, has been launched.
Head of the Marketing and Communications at Baku City Circuit Nigar Arpadarai told Trend that the construction work has already been launched near the ‘pit stop’ building, in front of the Government House.
She stressed that the work does not cause any inconvenience to people, mentioning that the basic work will start in May.
This summer’s 2017 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix to be staged on the streets of the capital city is scheduled to take place on the weekend June 23-25, 2017.
The last year’s race confirmed the newest street circuit in F1 as the fastest of its kind, with a new F1 street circuit speed record set by Valtteri Bottas (recording an official speed of 366kph along the circuit’s main straight, later unofficially recorded as reaching an astonishing 378kph) while it also delivered the joint-fastest pit stop of all time by the Williams Martini Racing team (on Felipe Massa’s car), matching the existing Red Bull record of 1.92 seconds, previously set at the U.S. Grand Prix in 2013.
Arpadarai, speaking about the ticket sales, voiced satisfaction with the sales. "Largest amount of tickets have been sold out in Russia, England, Ukraine, Georgia, and Arab countries,” she said.
A variety of ticket options are on offer for the 2017 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, including various packages for the Absheron Grandstand, which will offer fans some fantastic views of the start/finish lane, as well as a wide range of different Grandstand seating options, located at various corners and straights along the track.
Tickets for the 2017 Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix are available to purchase online via www.bakucitycircuit.com from December 2.
The 2017 season of Formula 1 will begin on March 26 in Australia and conclude on November 26 in Abu Dhabi, and will include five backto-back race weekends. The race is expected to be held in 20 countries.
