American Council of Engineering Companies awards SOCAR Tower
SOCAR Tower has earned the National Recognition Award in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) 2017 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) competition - “The Academy Awards of the engineering industry”.
SOCAR Tower has earned the National Recognition Award in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) 2017 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) competition - “The Academy Awards of the engineering industry”.
The National Recognition Award is a prestigious distinction honoring project that demonstrates exceptional achievement in engineering.
SOCAR Tower is located on the Heydar Aliyev Avenue, a long highway from the Baku International Airport to the downtown. The building has already turned into one of the landmarks of Azerbaijani capital, along with Flame Towers and other architectural masterpieces.
The awarding ceremony is scheduled for April 25, 2017 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington D.C. Representatives of SOCAR and the engineering firm has received invitation by ACEC to attend the ceremony.
As part of the special EEA 50th anniversary celebration, SOCAR’s project will receive an onstage tribute with all the National Recognition Award winners during the Gala.
SOCAR Tower was built by Tekfen Construction and inaugurated by President Ilham Aliyev on May 30, 2016.
SOCAR Tower’s designing work is based on the concept of “wind and fire” by Korea’s Heerim Architects & Planners Co. LTD. The two-tower project rises from an elongated, canopy-like podium and snake its way skywards. Curving into each other, the seemingly shorter tower almost looks like its resting its head on the chest of the taller tower. The taller tower's peak is slightly bending over it in a confident, reassuring manner. The 40-storey building is 200 metres in height. The headquarters mainly house office space but also have conference and sports facilities, a guest house, retail spaces and food outlets.
Started in 2010, the five-year construction work created one of the most beautiful architectures in Baku. The building meets all contemporary international standards and security requirements. It has unified system of security and technical measures.
