Shahdag among most popular mountain resorts in CIS

The Shahdag Winter-Summer Tourism Complex is one of the most advanced travel spots not only in Azerbaijan, but also in the world. The complex located in one of Azerbaijan’s most picturesqu­e regions has become a favorite place for many tourists since the opening.

The analytical Agency Turstat has named the Shahdag Complex among the most popular mountain resorts for outdoor activities in the CIS countries for the summer of 2017.

Active rest in the mountains includes mountain hiking, jeeping, mountain biking and quad biking, horseback riding, SPA and fitness.

The agency highlighte­d resorts in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan as the most popular mountain resorts of the CIS states. These include Shymbulak (Kazakhstan), Shahdag (Azerbaijan), Chimgan (Uzbekistan) and Karakol (Kyrgyzstan).

The rating is based on the analysis of the online booking systems of hotels. Turstat noted that tourists book their active rest in the mountain resorts for some 7 days.

The smallest travel budget for vacation, including accommodat­ion and food expenses, is in Karakol and Chimgan (less than $70 a day), while the most expensive rest is in Shymbulak (more than $100 per day). As for Azerbaijan’s Shahdag, the cost of rest here is some $90 a day.

The Shahdag winter and summer tourist complex is Azerbaijan’s first ski resort and it differs from similar facilities in the world for its uniqueness and diversity.

Year by year the number of tourists discoverin­g this beautiful resort increases. Despite Shahdag was opened only in December 2012, it could attract hundred thousands of people.

The Shahdag complex located in 30 km north of the town of Gusar, stands 2,500 meters above sea level and serves as an outstandin­g getaway with its rich nature, fresh air, and wonderful climate, with temperatur­es ranging between minus 2022 degrees Celsius in winter and 20 degrees in summer.

There are brand new hotels such as Zirva, Park Chalet, Gaya Residence, and PIK Palace that meet modern internatio­nal standards and are stylishly designed to ensure maximum comfort for the visitors.
