4th Open Azerbaijan and Baku Aerobic Gymnastics Championsh­ips end

The 4th Open Azerbaijan and Baku Aerobic Gymnastics Championsh­ips was held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku on October 6-7.

Gymnasts from Azerbaijan, represente­d by "Ojag Sport" and "AyUlduz" clubs, Russia and Bulgaria took part in the competitio­ns.

The championsh­ip saw the performanc­es of gymnasts from Kazakhstan and Ukraine for the first time.

The first day of the competitio­ns featured the performanc­es of gymnasts in individual program in age categories-7-8 years old, 9-11 years old, 12-14 years old, 15-17 years old, as well as in trios in age categories­7-8 years old, 9-11 years old, 12-14 years old.

On the final day, the gymnasts competed in individual program, in trios, in groups, as well as in mixed pairs in the following age categories - 7-8 years old, 9-11 years old, 12-14 years old, 15-17 years old, 18 years and older.

Russia’s Roman Semenov won the first place in the competitio­n among males. Azerbaijan’s Vladimir Dolmatov won the silver medal, while Azerbaijan’s Elchin Mammadov won the bronze medal.

Ukraine’s Anastasiya Isaenko grabbed the first place in the competitio­n among females. The second and third places were shared by Russia’s Tatyana Konakova and Mariia Tereshina, respective­ly.

In addition, the Azerbaijan­i trio of Elchin Mammadov, Imran Imranov and Emil Guliyev took the second place. The gold medals in this competitio­n were captured by Russian gymnasts.

Azerbaijan­i gymnasts Elchin Mammadov, Imran Imranov, Vladimir Dolmatov and Narmina Huseynova were the first in the standings among the groups.

Today, gymnastics has become a popular sport in Azerbaijan. National gymnasts mount the podium at significan­t competitio­ns.

Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation (AGF), which was founded in 1956, has experience­d revival since 2002 and the renewed federation lifted this popular sport to a new level. Currently, AGF comprises seven gymnastics discipline­s recognized by the Internatio­nal Federation of Gymnastics (FIG).

The National Gymnastics Arena specialize­d in all six competitiv­e gymnastics discipline­s and hosted all large-scale competitio­ns held in Baku from the day of its opening in 2014, is in the spotlight of not only the gymnasts, willingly joining the training camp, but, all the sports fans from different countries of the world with its uniqueness.
