Milan Expo national pavilion rebuilt at Seaside Park
Azerbaijani National Pavilion at Milan Expo 2015 international exhibition has been brought to Baku and rebuilt in the territory of the Seaside National Park.
President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva viewed the pavilion, which comes as part of projects implemented with the aim of creating modern recreation areas for the comfort of visitors and guests of the capital, on October 8.
The Azerbaijan National Pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015 World Exhibition reflects the unique nature and cultural treasury of our country, which plays the role of a bridge between North and South, East and West, distinguished by ancient history and rich culture.
Executive director of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Anar Alakbarov informed President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva of the conditions created at the rebuilt pavilion.
This building is adapted for yearround use on the territory of the Seaside National Park. Installations promoting Azerbaijani cuisine, music and culture were installed here.
Azerbaijan, with organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Heydar Aliyev Center, for the first time participated in the World Expo Milan with the national pavilion.
This project has played a major role in promoting the history and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan, the country's rich ecological, energy potential and its unique biodiversity on a global scale.
The exhibition “Milan Expo 2015”, which lasted from May 31 to October 31, 2015, was visited by more than 23 million people.
Over 3.2 million visitors visited the national pavilion of Azerbaijan. The four-storey national pavilion, called “Azerbaijan: a treasury of biodiversity”, was established in Milan in the area of 1,800 square meters.
Azerbaijan was among the states that differed at all stages of the World Expo Milan 2015. Foreign press, including the leading Italian media, noted that Azerbaijan was in the lead after the construction and design work of the national pavilion was completed. National pavilion was named the pearl of the Milan Expo 2015 exhibition.
During the exhibition, the pavilion of Azerbaijan was declared the winner in the nomination "Design and Material" by the Organizing Committee of Milan Expo 2015.
The project of the national pavilion of Azerbaijan, which will be installed at the Dubai Expo 2020, was also presented to President Ilham Aliyev. After reviewing the project, the head of state gave relevant instructions to start building a national pavilion for the exhibition. The head of state also instructed to review the issue of dismantling and delivery of the national pavilion to Azerbaijan after the exhibition.
The World Expo in Dubai in 2020 will be the first to be held in the Middle East and North Africa & South Asia region (MENA & SA).
