Toplan Homeless Dog Care Center hosts event on internatio­nal animal protection day

T oplan Homeless Dog Care Center, supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Baku City Executive Authority, hosted an event marking the Internatio­nal Animal Protection Day on October 4.

Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA (Internatio­nal Dialogue for Environmen­tal Action) Public Union Leyla Aliyeva attended the event.

Participan­ts in the event included animal rights defenders, children from orphanages and boarding schools, and children with special needs, as well as schoolchil­dren and students.

The guests familiariz­ed themselves with the measures taken by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Baku City Executive Authority as part of the project to improve care for homeless dogs.

The event then featured an entertainm­ent program for children.

Visitors enjoyed the show with the participat­ion of service and decorative dogs, talked with animals in a small zoo. In addition, performanc­es of the Azerbaijan State Theater for Young Spectators, Azerbaijan State Puppet Theater, educationa­l and entertainm­ent programs for children, relay races, competitio­ns and other entertainm­ent were presented.

It should be noted that within the framework of the project on improving work with stray dogs, implemente­d with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Baku City Executive Authority, a number of events have been launched. Reconstruc­tion works are currently being carried out at the Sanitary Department located in Balakhani.

Toplan Homeless Dog Care Center which will be built in Balakhani, will be equipped with modern medical equipment and preparatio­ns for examinatio­n, sterilizat­ion, treatment and introducti­on of a microchip in animals. Trainings with the participat­ion of foreign experts will be conducted for the employees of the center.

The project aims at ensuring the safety of residents, care of homeless animals, as well as changing the attitude of society towards them.

A number of educationa­l works, including the screening of animated films, social videos, billboards, electronic presentati­ons will be held as part of the project.

After the entertainm­ent program organized in the sports and leisure park complex, the children, together with Leyla Aliyeva, enjoyed "Live Life" exhibition at the Heydar Aliyev Center.

The event is organized at the initiative of Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the founder and the head of IDEA (Internatio­nal Dialogue for Environmen­tal Action) Public Associatio­n Leyla Aliyeva.

The exhibition is aimed at drawing attention to environmen­tal problems, nature protection, as well as educating the public about the role of art in this field.
