Young ju­doka wins Olympic gold

Azer­bai­jani ju­doka Vu­gar Tal­i­bov be­came a win­ner of the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.

In the fi­nal bout, Taly­bov met with Rus­sian Abrek Naguchevi. A fif­teen-year-old Azer­bai­jani ath­lete won in 2 min­utes 3 sec­onds us­ing ip­pon tech­nique.

“I am very happy, mostly be­cause I brought the first gold medal to Azer­bai­jan. I thank the lead­er­ship of the fed­er­a­tion and ev­ery­one who works with me,” he said.

The ju­doka Vu­gar Tal­i­bov won the gold medal in the weight cat­e­gory up to 66 kilo­grams. He be­came the first Azer­bai­jani ju­nior ju­doka to win gold at the Olympic Games.

He de­feated Ahad Al-Sagyra from Ye­men, then took up over the ath­lete from Ta­jik­istan Jamshed Su­ley­monini. In the semi­fi­nal, Tal­i­bov de­feated An­to­nio Tor­nal from the Do­mini­can Repub­lic.

The third Sum­mer Youth Olympic Games are be­ing held in Buenos Aires (Ar­gentina) on Oc­to­ber 6-18, 2018. The three-day long judo tour­na­ment has kicked off on Oc­to­ber 7.
