Heydar Aliyev Foundation preserves spiritual values, shows care for children with special needs
First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva has attended the inauguration of number of facilities in Baku, constructed and renovated on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on October 23.
Mehriban Aliyeva attended the opening of Imam Huseyn Mosque.
The mosque’s akhund, Haji Abdul, informed First Vice-President, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva of the Imam Huseyn Mosque.
An exhibition "Shirvanshahs' Heritage in the World's Museums" solemnly opened in Baku on October 24.
Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, founder and head of IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Action) Public Union Leyla Aliyeva attended the event.
The exhibition was organized within the framework of an international conference "Journey from modern Azerbaijan to the Historical State of the Shirvanshahs".
Addressing the event, the head of Icherisheher State Historical and Architectural Reserve Asgar Alakbarov said that one of the main reasons for the idea of holding this conference and exhibition is that the residence of the Shirvanshahs, the most beautiful buildings of the thousand-year history of Shirvan, is located in Icherisheher.
"Together with the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, we initiated the conference on the history of the Shirvanshahs. I express my gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for supporting this initiative. This demonstrates the high appreciation of the historical heritage of our people by the head of state, instills a sense of patriotism in the younger generation," he said.
The exhibition presents unique exhibits brought to Azerbaijan from the largest museums of the world.
"The main exhibits of the exhibition are samples of material culture from the Istanbul Military Museum. Four helmets belonging to the last ruler of Shirvan Farrukh Yasar, taken away from the Shirvanshahs palace as a trophy after bloody battles at the beginning of the 16th century, combat armor of Shirvanshah KayKubad and Shirvanshah Khalilullah I in 500 years, although temporarily, are exhibited in their native places. Samples of glazed tiles from the Pir Hussein sanctuary brought from the National Museum of Georgia are also represented," said Alakbarov.
Speaking at the event, the employee of the Istanbul Military Museum Omar Farug Aslan stressed the importance of the exhibition dedicated to the rich history of the Shirvanshahs for thousands of years.
Then the participants of the event got acquainted with the exhibition.
The ensemble of ancient musical instruments "Resound of the Ages" conducted by People's Artist Fakhraddin Dadashev performed at the event.
The exhibition is open to visitors daily from 9.00 to 20.00 until January 23, 2019.
