Baku forum becomes important platform for sharing positive experience
The appeal said that the slogan “Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Development” of the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum is very significant for modern society.
Vladimir Putin in his appeal expressed confidence that the forum participants will exchange professional experience and advanced practical developments, as well as outline new promising forms and areas of mutually beneficial international cooperation.
In conclusion, President Putin wished success and all the very best to the forum participants.
Addressing the event, Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) said that the world has to be fair to address the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with decisiveness and sincerity.
“You cannot achieve peace and security in the world while people occupy other people’s land. This is against the international law, the teachings of religions, and all the noble ethics and morals,” he said.
He stressed that it is impossible to have a safe and secure world without applying justice and international law.
“This is a must, we have to acknowledge it and work for it. This forum is a step forward to achieving this,” Altwaijri said.
In turn, UN Assistant SecretaryGeneral for Humanitarian Partnerships with Middle East, Central Asia Rashid Khalikov noted that global answers and multilateral government forums are needed to overcome the global problems and challenges.
Khalikov said that all the participants gathered at the Forum to discuss the critical issues faced by the world.
UN Assistant Secretary-General reminded that 134 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance worldwide, and UN and its partners have requested $25.3 billion to support people facing humanitarian crises. He stressed that the topic of the Forum is very important for shaping a new world.
In turn, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov pointed out that the current grand development of Azerbaijan was achieved in just 13-15 years. Over the years Azerbaijan has been able to reduce the level of poverty from 50 to five percent, and two million jobs have created in the country, he added.
“The changes that took place in Azerbaijan are reflected not only in statistics, the whole look of Azerbaijan has changed. Baku has become a modern city, all regions of the country have been modernized,” said Ahmadov.
The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the success achieved in Azerbaijan over 13-15 years give rise to hope that the UN Sustainable Development Goals will be achieved in 2030.
Addressing the event, Marianna Schetkina, Deputy Chairperson of the Belarusian Council of the Republic underlined that the Baku Forum is an important platform for sharing experiences and opinions.
“Such forums are necessary for sharing positive experience. We must work together. We are grateful to Azerbaijan for giving us such an opportunity,” said Schetkina.
Held under the slogan “Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Development”, the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum brought together 581 delegates from 86 countries and 24 international organizations.
Initiated by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia in 2010, the Baku International Humanitarian Forum is an annual platform for famous representatives of political, scientific and cultural elite of the world, including statesmen, Nobel Prize winners in various fields of science and leaders of influential international organizations to hold dialogues, discussions and exchange of views on a wide range of global issues.
The 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum focused on identifying and seeking to release creative ideas and energies that can both shape tomorrow’s world as well as respond to it.
The Forum was highly appreciated by international experts and statesmen.
