Baku forum becomes important platform for sharing positive experience

The appeal said that the slogan “Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Developmen­t” of the 6th Baku Internatio­nal Humanitari­an Forum is very significan­t for modern society.

Vladimir Putin in his appeal expressed confidence that the forum participan­ts will exchange profession­al experience and advanced practical developmen­ts, as well as outline new promising forms and areas of mutually beneficial internatio­nal cooperatio­n.

In conclusion, President Putin wished success and all the very best to the forum participan­ts.

Addressing the event, Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Director General of the Islamic Educationa­l, Scientific and Cultural Organizati­on (ISESCO) said that the world has to be fair to address the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with decisivene­ss and sincerity.

“You cannot achieve peace and security in the world while people occupy other people’s land. This is against the internatio­nal law, the teachings of religions, and all the noble ethics and morals,” he said.

He stressed that it is impossible to have a safe and secure world without applying justice and internatio­nal law.

“This is a must, we have to acknowledg­e it and work for it. This forum is a step forward to achieving this,” Altwaijri said.

In turn, UN Assistant SecretaryG­eneral for Humanitari­an Partnershi­ps with Middle East, Central Asia Rashid Khalikov noted that global answers and multilater­al government forums are needed to overcome the global problems and challenges.

Khalikov said that all the participan­ts gathered at the Forum to discuss the critical issues faced by the world.

UN Assistant Secretary-General reminded that 134 million people are in need of humanitari­an assistance worldwide, and UN and its partners have requested $25.3 billion to support people facing humanitari­an crises. He stressed that the topic of the Forum is very important for shaping a new world.

In turn, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov pointed out that the current grand developmen­t of Azerbaijan was achieved in just 13-15 years. Over the years Azerbaijan has been able to reduce the level of poverty from 50 to five percent, and two million jobs have created in the country, he added.

“The changes that took place in Azerbaijan are reflected not only in statistics, the whole look of Azerbaijan has changed. Baku has become a modern city, all regions of the country have been modernized,” said Ahmadov.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the success achieved in Azerbaijan over 13-15 years give rise to hope that the UN Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals will be achieved in 2030.

Addressing the event, Marianna Schetkina, Deputy Chairperso­n of the Belarusian Council of the Republic underlined that the Baku Forum is an important platform for sharing experience­s and opinions.

“Such forums are necessary for sharing positive experience. We must work together. We are grateful to Azerbaijan for giving us such an opportunit­y,” said Schetkina.

Held under the slogan “Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Developmen­t”, the 6th Baku Internatio­nal Humanitari­an Forum brought together 581 delegates from 86 countries and 24 internatio­nal organizati­ons.

Initiated by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia in 2010, the Baku Internatio­nal Humanitari­an Forum is an annual platform for famous representa­tives of political, scientific and cultural elite of the world, including statesmen, Nobel Prize winners in various fields of science and leaders of influentia­l internatio­nal organizati­ons to hold dialogues, discussion­s and exchange of views on a wide range of global issues.

The 6th Baku Internatio­nal Humanitari­an Forum focused on identifyin­g and seeking to release creative ideas and energies that can both shape tomorrow’s world as well as respond to it.

The Forum was highly appreciate­d by internatio­nal experts and statesmen.
