First VP Mehriban Aliyeva inaugurates Imam Huseyn Mosque, special school
The mosque was built in 1890 by philanthropist Haji Hajibala. After the Bolshevik occupation in 1920, the mosque remained closed for some time. However, after Azerbaijan gained independence, it was repaired.
The renovation and restoration work at the mosque started in 2017. The mosque occupies a total area of 300 square meters.
About 400 people can perform religious service in the mosque at the same time. A ceremonial hall for 130 people was built on the territory of Imam Huseyn's mosque.
The mosque’s akhund Haji Abdul presented First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva a Holy Quran.
Azerbaijan always pays great attention to the preservation of religious and spiritual values. In recent years, dozens of mosques, shrines and places of worship have been repaired in the country.
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation is notable for its special activities in this process. The opening of the Imam Huseyn Mosque, restored with the support of the Foundation, is one of the measures in the field of preserving national and spiritual values.
The First Vice-President also attended the inauguration of a new building of a special school No. 11. School principal Shahzade Isgandarova informed First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva of the conditions created at the site.
The old building of school was constructed in 1897. The three-story school occupies an area of more than 4,000 square meters. The school has 21 classrooms, a doctor’s room, a gym, a conference hall, a canteen and a library.
The 250-seat school enrolls 788 students who are served by 289 teachers. Children in need of special care study at this school.
Extensive landscaping and reconstruction work was carried out, and a green area was created in the yard of the school.
All conditions have been created in the building. Under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, significant steps have been taken to strengthen the social protection of people with special needs.
The construction of a new building of a special school No. 11 at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation indicates once again that the Foundation makes a significant contribution to state projects implemented in this area.
The implementation of this project clearly shows that humanism, respect for human values, attention to everyone, regardless of religion, language, gender, age, are the main principles of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
