Country eyes opening 10 trading houses abroad in 2019
Export contracts worth $2.1 million were signed during January-September of this year.
This was stated by acting president of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) Yusif Abdullayev at a press-conference.
He added that the value of exported goods for nine months amounted to $1.9 million.
“Basically, the export of confectionery ($ 32,980), tomatoes ($1.67 million), hazelnuts ($241,850) and pomegranate juice ($35,000) prevailed. Exports of non-oil products increased by 13 percent year-onyear,” he stressed.
Earlier, Abdullayev noted that in 2019, Azerbaijan will open 10 more trading houses abroad, adding that several trading houses may open in China.
He also noted that next year Azerbaijani entrepreneurs will participate in international exhibitions in China and South Korea.
Abdullayev went on to say that in general, since the beginning of the year, Azerbaijani businessmen have taken part in eight international exhibitions, including Prodexpo, International Green Week 2018 and others.
He further added that Azerbaijan took part in the International Green Week for the 10th time. Azerbaijan presented agricultural products at the exhibition, especially the products of companies from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, he said.
Abdullayev also spoke about the activities of AZPROMO, noting that in the first nine months of this year, the Foundation organized 180 events, 155 of which were held within the country and 25 were held abroad.
AZPROMO is a joint public-private initiative, established by the Economy Ministry of Azerbaijan in 2003 with the aim to contribute to the economic development through attracting foreign investments and stimulating exports in the non-oil sector.
As a unique “one-stop shop” body, AZPROMO assists foreignbased companies interested in investigating and utilizing investment opportunities in Azerbaijan. Meantime, it is a devoted partner of companies established in Azerbaijan looking to enter foreign markets.
