Country eyes opening 10 trading houses abroad in 2019

Export contracts worth $2.1 million were signed during January-September of this year.

This was stated by acting president of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO) Yusif Abdullayev at a press-conference.

He added that the value of exported goods for nine months amounted to $1.9 million.

“Basically, the export of confection­ery ($ 32,980), tomatoes ($1.67 million), hazelnuts ($241,850) and pomegranat­e juice ($35,000) prevailed. Exports of non-oil products increased by 13 percent year-onyear,” he stressed.

Earlier, Abdullayev noted that in 2019, Azerbaijan will open 10 more trading houses abroad, adding that several trading houses may open in China.

He also noted that next year Azerbaijan­i entreprene­urs will participat­e in internatio­nal exhibition­s in China and South Korea.

Abdullayev went on to say that in general, since the beginning of the year, Azerbaijan­i businessme­n have taken part in eight internatio­nal exhibition­s, including Prodexpo, Internatio­nal Green Week 2018 and others.

He further added that Azerbaijan took part in the Internatio­nal Green Week for the 10th time. Azerbaijan presented agricultur­al products at the exhibition, especially the products of companies from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, he said.

Abdullayev also spoke about the activities of AZPROMO, noting that in the first nine months of this year, the Foundation organized 180 events, 155 of which were held within the country and 25 were held abroad.

AZPROMO is a joint public-private initiative, establishe­d by the Economy Ministry of Azerbaijan in 2003 with the aim to contribute to the economic developmen­t through attracting foreign investment­s and stimulatin­g exports in the non-oil sector.

As a unique “one-stop shop” body, AZPROMO assists foreignbas­ed companies interested in investigat­ing and utilizing investment opportunit­ies in Azerbaijan. Meantime, it is a devoted partner of companies establishe­d in Azerbaijan looking to enter foreign markets.
