Coun­try eyes open­ing 10 trad­ing houses abroad in 2019

Ex­port con­tracts worth $2.1 mil­lion were signed dur­ing Jan­uary-Septem­ber of this year.

This was stated by act­ing pres­i­dent of the Azer­bai­jan Ex­port and In­vest­ment Pro­mo­tion Foun­da­tion (AZPROMO) Yusif Ab­dul­layev at a press-con­fer­ence.

He added that the value of ex­ported goods for nine months amounted to $1.9 mil­lion.

“Ba­si­cally, the ex­port of con­fec­tionery ($ 32,980), toma­toes ($1.67 mil­lion), hazel­nuts ($241,850) and pome­gran­ate juice ($35,000) pre­vailed. Ex­ports of non-oil prod­ucts in­creased by 13 per­cent year-onyear,” he stressed.

Ear­lier, Ab­dul­layev noted that in 2019, Azer­bai­jan will open 10 more trad­ing houses abroad, adding that sev­eral trad­ing houses may open in China.

He also noted that next year Azer­bai­jani entrepreneurs will par­tic­i­pate in in­ter­na­tional ex­hi­bi­tions in China and South Korea.

Ab­dul­layev went on to say that in gen­eral, since the be­gin­ning of the year, Azer­bai­jani busi­ness­men have taken part in eight in­ter­na­tional ex­hi­bi­tions, in­clud­ing Prod­expo, In­ter­na­tional Green Week 2018 and oth­ers.

He fur­ther added that Azer­bai­jan took part in the In­ter­na­tional Green Week for the 10th time. Azer­bai­jan pre­sented agri­cul­tural prod­ucts at the ex­hi­bi­tion, es­pe­cially the prod­ucts of com­pa­nies from the Nakhchivan Au­ton­o­mous Repub­lic, he said.

Ab­dul­layev also spoke about the ac­tiv­i­ties of AZPROMO, not­ing that in the first nine months of this year, the Foun­da­tion or­ga­nized 180 events, 155 of which were held within the coun­try and 25 were held abroad.

AZPROMO is a joint pub­lic-pri­vate ini­tia­tive, es­tab­lished by the Econ­omy Min­istry of Azer­bai­jan in 2003 with the aim to con­trib­ute to the eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment through at­tract­ing for­eign in­vest­ments and stim­u­lat­ing ex­ports in the non-oil sec­tor.

As a unique “one-stop shop” body, AZPROMO as­sists for­eign­based com­pa­nies in­ter­ested in in­ves­ti­gat­ing and uti­liz­ing in­vest­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties in Azer­bai­jan. Mean­time, it is a de­voted part­ner of com­pa­nies es­tab­lished in Azer­bai­jan look­ing to en­ter for­eign mar­kets.
