BAKU FASHION WEEK 2023
The first ever season of Baku Fashion Week featured fourteen shows by local and foreign designers representing Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, and Spain.
Just as theater begins with wardrobe, fashion shows begin with street style. Among the guests of the event were bright, beautiful women who were shrouded in mystery. The oriental men in beautiful suits and with fashionable rosaries in their hands were equally as impressive.
We saw many interesting collections on the catwalk. Each show was, without a doubt, unique, just like their soundtracks. The music at the show created a special atmosphere. I periodically turned on Shazam with hope of identifying a song but to no avail. On the sidelines, I heard that the music was specially created by DJs and that most of the tracks were based on classic national Azerbaijani melodies, which is even more mesmerizing and inspiring. As a great skeptic, I scrutinized every detail because it is very difficult to surprise me. However, the oriental flavor, laconism, favorite black, pure white, and sugary red did not leave me indifferent.
Baku Fashion Week was opened by the Uventa brand, and the show’s special guest was top model and muse of the brand, Gunay Musayeva. A men's cut coat with clearly defined shoulders, chains, transparent fabrics, a mix of textures, naked dresses with formal coats, leather goods, raincoats, jackets, and jumpsuits that broke my heart into pieces and sexually emphasized masculinity and femininity at the same time. Special emotions were aroused by things made of quilted fabric, which once again epitomized the nature of the collection.
I can already imagine myself in a silk translucent dress, worn on my naked body, and in a man's coat, lightly draped over my shoulders, sitting in Paris with a glass of white wine and thinking about lofty things.
several great institutions, but my choice was firmly Istituto Marangoni. It was an ideal option, as the teaching was not conducted in Italian alone, which I did not speak at that time, but also in English.
The M.O.S.T.: Do you see a stylist as a kind of psychologist?
Tata: Of course! Everyone in this profession should undergo training in psychology because we are in constant contact with people. And being able to recognize the style of the person with whom you are collaborating plays a big role in your work. You can meet a girl on the street dressed from head to toe in Hermès, Celine, or Dior, yet she can still look cheap; her stylist may have simply not felt her as a person. These are psychological moments. You must understand where the client wants to end up. After all, we often hide behind masks that portray a completely opposite person, and then it turns out that the chosen image does not correspond to your inner feelings at all. A stylist is exactly the person who should help you become holistic.
