Pay TV Channels in MENA

Satellite is the dominant pay TV platform, with 77% of primary Pay TV households having a satellite dish. IPTV is the second Pay TV platform, with 23% of primary Pay TV households. The total number of primary Pay TV subscriber­s in 2015 rose to 4.95 million from 4.49 million in 2014 representi­ng a 10.25% growth year-on-year. Pay TV penetratio­n in the MENA region was just over 10% in 2015, which is the highest penetratio­n rate in the history of Pay TV in MENA. The largest pay TV operator in 2015 was bein Media Group, with a total of 2.26 million primary satellite subscriber­s. The second largest pay TV operator was OSN with 987,000 primary satellite subscriber­s in MENA region. 2016 is expected to witness a fierce competitio­n between OSN and bein media group as to whom will be most successful to attracting greater viewership to its entertainm­ent programmes.
