Instagram Rolls Out Live stories

On January 24, 2017, Instagram unveiled new live video feature ‘Live Stories’, which allows users to share updates with their followers in real-time by swiping right from their feed and pressing ‘Start Live Video’ from the Stories camera menu. The upgrade comes in line with the platform’s increasing reliance on expiring content (which also qualifies as one of the biggest social media trends of the year), from rolling out Snapchat-like feature Instagram Stories in August 2016 to incorporating disappearing photos and videos into Instagram direct mid-november. “From real-time makeup tutorials to live DJ sets, it’s been exciting to watch as the community shares new sides of their lives,” the official Instagram blog reads.
