Rose Choueiri awarded the medal of the Order of St. Gregory the Great

-

Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Béchara Raï, presented to Rose Choueiri, a member of the Maronite Foundation in the world, the metal of the Lady of the Order of Gregory the Great, which Pope Francis awarded her in recognition of all her contributions “for the good of the Church and of society”.

In a speech given during a ceremony that took place at the patriarchal headquarters in Bkerké, Choueiri stressed that “although this medal is in my name, it is deserving of every Lebanese woman who works in favor of her society and her country.” Recalling that she began her journey with her deceased husband, Antoine Choueiri, she noted that “this medal is an act of faith, charity and gift”.

For his part, the Patriarch emphasised Rose Choueiri’s “humanitarian contributions” in various fields. Affirming that she deserves this medal, Bishop Raï explained that the one given to her is a “human” medal, but “there is another spiritual and divine medal” that the Lord had awarded to the late Antoine Choueiri to reward his “great doings.” “I greet Ms. Rose Choueiri and her family who are pursuing the same path,” he said.

Cardinal Raï concluded by thanking Rose Choueiri for all her actions towards men, society and the Church, as well as for her work with the Maronite Foundation in the world.
