October 1, 2017 will go down as one of the saddest days in modern US history, after a 64-year-old gunman by the name of Stephen Paddock opened fire on a large crowd of festival goers on the Las Vegas Strip from his suite on the 32nd floor of a nearby hotel, leaving 58 people dead and injuring a whopping 489, in what is deemed to be the deadliest mass-shooting ever committed by an individual in the country. The shooter was found dead shortly after due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound but his motive remains unclear to date. World leaders and celebrities tweeted their support for the victims and their families in the wake of the tragedy, which left the online community in shock and rekindled the debate over gun laws in the US.
