Guinness goes white
A special edition of Guinness beer has been launched in Korea with white cans. The makeover of the iconic Irish black beer can comes as a tribute to legendary designer John Gilroy (1898-1985). The Guinness Gilroy Edition comes in three variations and are decorated with the drawing of the English designer. This series was introduced to celebrate Gilroy’s 120th birthday. Known for Guinness’ popular advertising posters that showed animals with humorous taglines like “My Goodness, My Guinness,” Gilroy has created over 150 prints ads and posters for the brand over three decades.
“Black is a symbol for Guinness, and it’s very rare to release an edition in white,” reads the press statement. “The aim was to emphasize Gilroy’s character and his contribution to Guinness’ most legendary ads.”
