GHADA CHEHAIBAR

Managing and Creative Director, Purple advertising

OVERALL SENTIMENT

It was quite good in general, we could sense a certain effort, but I think there is a global stagnation of overall creativity. There’s nothing that’s outstandingly out of the box. There was many cliché and deja-vu ideas and visuals. But it’s not a critic of this particular contest, and it’s not only on our local level, it has become and international issue. Even in fashion and trends, we are seeing the comeback of the seventies … in cinema, its remakes and retakes. The comeback of vintage. In the entries submitted, what was striking is that the students showcased more effort that the professional section, their posters were rich in ideas, content and layout. We wish that students keep this spirit and keeps the creativity explosive in his professional life afterwards, not limiting himself to any boundaries.

ON THE WINNING POSTERS

The three concepts in pro category were self-explanatory and need no rationale. The 1st one is distinguished by its strong layout and striking colors, everything is clear, solid and attractive. The concept of the second one is nice but it would pass more as a press ad than as a poster. The concept of the 3rd one is very strong although the layout has a little weakness in the square fitting in the rectangle, it was missing a little refined touch to become perfect.

As for the three winners in student category, all three are strong and clear and their concept and layout are tailor made and ideal for a poster. The third one is a bit relative.

A LAST WORD….

I would like to thank Arab Ad and Tree ad and all those who support and encourage the creative field, especially that these contests are motivations our young talents to keep up the level and keep evolving.
