SOCIAL MEDIA USERS TAKE TO TWITTER IN THE WAKE OF #INSTAGRAMDOWN
Shortly after Facebook appointed Adam Mosseri as the new Head of Instagram on October 1 amid founders’ resignation, Instagram went down for just over 30 minutes on October 3, sending the online community into a full-fledged frenzy. The short-lived outage prompted corresponding hashtag #Instagramdown to the very top of Twitter’s worldwide trends in a matter of seconds, as inquisitive users took to the platform to assess the situation [following multiple refreshing attempts] and eventually share their own memes/jokes about it. “Are all influencers walking around screaming inspirational quotes at people on the streets? #instagramdown,” one user joked. “*removes spanx* *gets a table at a cafe that isn't near a source of natural light* *orders something and just straight up eats it while it's warm* *flies economy* *hangs out with my friends without referring to them as "these humans"* #instagramdown,” another user went on, adding to the usual sarcastic atmosphere that builds up on Twitter whenever such unfortunate incidents happen on other social networks.
