GOING ONE, GOING FRIES, GONE!
While an artwork by renowned street artist Banksy was being auctioned at $1.4 million, it went partially sliced into thin strips to the awe of the audience present at that time. Afterwards, the new work became a new original artwork and has been granted a certificate by Pest Control, Banksy's authentication body, and has been given a new title, "Love is in the Bin." Banksy, whose identity is kept secret, posted a video on Instagram showing him putting the shredder into the picture's frame, explaining he did intentionally so in case it was ever put up for auction. "A few years ago I secretly built a shredder into a painting. In case it was ever put up for auction," read the text cut between shots. The artist, who is known for graffiti that attacks capitalism, captioned the post "The urge to destroy is also a creative urge," a quote from Picasso. A new acquirer won the bid of Banksy’s semi-shredded “Girl with balloon.” It has become the 1st artwork in history to have been created live during an auction. The buyer, a female European collector, has acquired the artwork at the same price ($1.3 million )as was achieved in the room on the night were the artwork got self-destructed.
