For the second year in a row, Internatio­nal Women’s Day on March 8 was Facebook’s most talked about moment of the year, as users around the world took time to capitalize on women empowermen­t, addressing a range of relevant women-related topics, challenges and causes.

Just like it was among the biggest Twitter hashtags of the year, the highly awaited Super Bowl final on February 4 brought together over 62 million Facebook users, who witnessed The Philadelph­ia Eagles secure their first Super Bowl win against the New England Patriots.

World Cup

According to Facebook Newsroom, over 383 million football fans worldwide took to the platform to support their favorite teams through a total of 2.3 billion posts, comments, reactions and shares. France’s second World Cup victory on July 15 and the England vs. Croatia semifinal on July 11 were also among Facebook’s most-discussed moments of 2018.

The Royal Wedding

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exquisite royal wedding on May 19 also made it big on Facebook, with a whopping 42 million users posting about the muchantici­pated event.
