INSTAGRAM RESTRICTS WEIGHT LOSS AND COSMETIC SURGERY POSTS FOR MINORS
After removing the number of likes from its feed across a number of countries to promote psychological wellbeing among its users, Instagram has now made changes to its policy that will prevent posts related weight loss and cosmetic surgery from appearing on the feeds of users under 18 in an effort to make the platform a better place for young people. The decision comes to crack down on posts that make ‘miraculous’ claims about specific diets or weight alongside controversial endorsements of such products by celebrities under influencer marketing. It’s about time influencer marketing is regulated in clear terms on the platform following the unprecedented proliferation of both influencers and wannabe influencers on Instagram.
