#Lovealwaysblooms No Matter what!

-

Every year, during the month of June, the LGBTQ+ community across the world celebrates in a number of different ways. In Lebanon, while this topic is still a quite sensitive one, Beirut Pride, the annual non-profit LGBT+ pride event held in Beirut ran an outdoor campaign to create further awareness, as it continues to take a positive stance against hate and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.the installation started as a green vertical garden – “a clean sleight that symbolizes the potential of our community” explains the organization on its website. The billboard was placed in Sassine, Ashrafieh, and slowly bloomed with flowers across June revealing the rainbow flag alongside the message, ‘Love always blooms’.

However, the colored flowers on the billboard were ripped out in no time and the words underneath were torn. “Our Love was vandalized”, wrote the organization on its Instagram page. The ‘Blooming Billboard’ flowering was installed to raise awareness about a ‘Lebanese law that still criminalizes same-sex love.’lebanon’s interior minister,

Bassam Mawlawi, had ordered security forces to ‘prohibit any form of celebration, meeting, or gathering’during Pride Month just a day before the destruction.every year since the first march in the Lebanese capital in 2017, Beirut Pride has faced hostility and threats of violence from conservative religious sects and the authorities.the idea was created by Leo Burnett Beirut and supported pro bono by Pikasso outdoor company. Flowers were arranged by Exotica.
