Bid/Ask: A $117,000 tuna; GM hops in with Lyft

- By Kyle Stock

Tuna gets rich. In the first auction of the year at Tokyo’s Tsukiji Fish Market, a 440-pound bluefin tuna fetched almost three times as much as the priciest fish at 2015’s inaugural sale. The bid came from Kiyoshi Kimura, president of restaurant chain Sushi-Zanmai, who set a record in 2013 when he paid almost $1.8 million for a 490-lb. tuna. The historic Tsukiji market will be demolished later this year.
