LG taps into Shops and Re­wards app

UAE LG is us­ing Shops and Re­wards, an An­droid-based app, in a so­cial me­dia com­pe­ti­tion to sup­port its G2 smart­phone, which was launched in the UAE through du. Con­sumers can win points by shar­ing their thoughts about the brand via so­cial me­dia plat­forms.

Once reg­is­tered, users must se­lect LG as one of their favourite brands. Fans need to se­lect ‘What’s Trend­ing’ to re­ceive the most up-to-date ads from com­pa­nies, thus mark­ing them­selves as its brand am­bas­sadors.

Points can be earned by shar­ing LG’s mes­sages by hit­ting ‘like’ on any of its posts in the app. This will au­to­mat­i­cally post an im­age on their Face­book wall, stat­ing that they have earned points. By hit­ting ‘share’, they can share LG’s lat­est ads on Face­book and Twit­ter, or email to friends. Fans can even write com­ments or posts to earn points. The first one to get 2,000 points wins the G2.

The LG G2 is the com­pany’s first model in G Se­ries, com­pris­ing pre­mium de­vices.

Ac­cord­ing to LG, the G2 was de­signed based on re­search find­ings about life­styles and be­hav­iours, and of­fers real-life ben­e­fits and an in­tu­itive user ex­pe­ri­ence.

LG re­ported a global sales fig­ure of 12.1 mil­lion smart­phones in Q2 2013, which is 20 per cent of its to­tal rev­enue. LG Gulf ex­pects to hit dou­bledigit mar­ket share growth by the end of 2013.
