Etisalat UAE has introduced what it claims are the region’s first special tablet data packages for the student community.

There are three options: 1GB, 5GB and 20GB monthly data deals for students of the UAE universities and colleges. They will also benefit from the specially priced Apple iPads – as an exclusive offer – which will be used to deliver educational content, webinars and lecture videos.

John Lincoln, senior vice president of business marketing at Etisalat UAE, says: “Etisalat recognises its significant role in the education sector and its contribution to the growth of the country. These institutions have to be continuously empowered with the right tools of technology and services, in order to create a competent future workforce and leaders of tomorrow.

“The partnership with colleges and universities in the UAE is a step in this direction, enabling students to form an environment, [where they are] able to share knowledge and encourage innovation and creativity at the university.”

Etisalat also ran a one-month training program for 200 national high school and college students, covering ICT, sales, marketing and corporate communications.
