Dubai Women’s Run set to welcome 9,000 participants

-

The 7th Annual Dubai Women’s Run (DWR) will take place on Friday, at Marasi Business Bay, Dubai.

The event will be under the patronage of Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of National Olympics Committee,

The race that hosts both 5K and 10K formats will showcase the world’s most talented distance runners including world record holder Tegla Laroupe, members of the UAE Athletics Team and other international elite athletes.

The UAE Athletics Federation, the Dubai Sports Council and race organizers, Plan b Group expressed their expectation of 9000 female runners this year, during the prerace press conference held at the Steigenberger Hotel.

This number would make this 7th edition of Dubai Women’s Run the most successful one yet.

In addition to record participation, Dubai Women’s Run has garnered immense sponsor attention as well with Alpro and Zomato as Key Sponsors and is being hosted by Dubai Properties.

Dubai Women’s Run announced its association with the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) earlier this year and integrated the Foundation’s Orange Campaign as the ‘Soul of DWR’. The Global Campaign aims to raise awareness about and works towards the elimination of violence against women. DWR is working alongside DFWAC to increase the campaign’s reach and impact.

DWR ran an active pre event campaign to attract amateur and professional runners through the inspiration and motivation spread by its brand ambassadors Sonu Sood, Lamia Tariq Malallah Alfarsi, Dareen Barbar and Sana Khan.

Ahmad Al Kamali, IAAF Council member and President of the UAE Athletic Federation said: “Dubai Women’s Run is a celebration of women’s achievements and it also aspires to motivate women in the UAE to discover the positive impact of exercise and to take simple steps to embrace a healthier and happier self”.
