Fire in Kolkata factory, no one hurt

KOLKATA: A massive ire Broke out at a rubber factory in the city on Friday, a fire brigade official said. Nobody was injured in the incident.

“THE ire Broke out At About 9.41 a.m. in the footwear making factory situated at Chowbaga area near Eastern Metropolit­an Bypass,” THE OFICIAL SAID.

SEVEN ire tenders were pressed into service. They worked for more than one hour. But the blaze is yet to be put out completely, he added.

“THE reason BEHIND THE ire Is not clear yet. Initial reports have suggested it broke out of waste materials. There may BE stock of Inlammable materials In THE Factory,” THE OFICIAL SAID.

“There was a huge smoke in the area. It engulfed the entire neighbourh­ood. We have been trying hard to stop the ire From SPREADING to THE ADJACENT Establishm­ents,” THE OFICIAL ADDED.

Separately, an elephant trampled a man to death in northern West Bengal’s Dooars Forest AREA, Forest oficials SAID.

The gruesome incident took place on Thursday night on the Latagurima­hakal Mandir Road of Jalpaiguri District As SADIK RAHMAN, 40, A security guard, made no attempt to step into his vehicle, which is the normal custom when any elephant crosses a highway.

The pachyderm attacked Rahman, stepped on him, and kicked him repeatedly from one side of the road to the MIDDLE, THE oficials ADDED.

He died on the spot.
