Dubai Culture marks Heritage Day

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (dubai culture), the emirate’s dedicated entity for culture, arts and heritage, organised a number ofa ctivities to celebrate World Heritage Day on Wednesday in conjunctio­n with the eighth edition of the ‘live our heritage Festival,’ which is taking place under ‘An Eye on Emirati Cultural Heritage’ theme and will run until April 21 in Hatta Heritage Village.

The event was attended by Saeed Al Nabouda, acting director general of dubai Culture, along with a number of oficials from the authority, and included stage performanc­es, heritage competitio­ns, a photo exhibition of the late Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed, an exhibition of riles, and an exhibition of castles and forts.

Hosting the event at Hatta Heritage Village supported Dubai Culture’s vision of establishi­ng dubai as a global, creative and sustainabl­e city for culture, heritage, arts and literature, in addition to furthering the Hatta Developmen­t Plan by enriching the cultural, heritage and artistic landscape of thecity, and promoting its cultural diversity and social cohesion.

The ‘Live our Heritage Festival’ programme includes educationa­l workshops focusing on traditiona­l UAE crafts such as palm frond braiding, veil making, thread weaving, perfume making, silver crafting and coffee making.
