ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday ordered that all additional security protocol granted to unentitled persons be withdrawn in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

During his irst visit to Peshawar where he heard some cases, the top judge issued this order to KP Inspector General of Police (IGP) Salahuddin Mehsood when he informed the court that as many as 3,000 security personnel were currently deployed for personal security throughout KP.

“Those who possess everything can also arrange their personal security,” the chief justice remarked and ordered the KP police chief to withdraw all police personnel deployed for the security of oficials.

The IGP assured the court that the same will be immediately done.

The court also sought explanation form authorities about provision of drinkable water and other facilities being provided to the citizens.

The chief justice inquired as to why there was loadshedding in KP and what has the government done to generate electricity.

He sought a report on number of schools and facilities being provided to the students.

He visited Alrazi Medical College, a private medical institute, and ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to seize its record. He took exception to the administration of the college for inadequate facilities despite taking heavy fees.

He also visited Lady Reading Hospital of Peshawar.

The IGP informed the court that the police had already taken back police vehicles from 900 people in KP, who had been provided security earlier.

The chief justice said that he respected the sacrifices of the KP police during the war on terror, but influential individuals should arrange for their security privately.

Justice Nisar ordered KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak to appear before the court and explain the provincial government’s failure to provide clean drinking water to citizens and the steps taken by it to dispose of sewage and industrial waste.

The chief justice remarked that the Pakistan Tehrik-e-insaf (PTI) which has been leading the government in KP for the past ive years should explain what it has done to ensure that clean drinking water is available to citizens.
